Labeling Information

For the safety of consumers and to address the need for information on all food products, the food labeling law was created. This branch of law makes sure that the food that consumers buy is proven safe for consumption as well as provides some information on what type of food they are buying. The process of food labeling is being regulated by two federal agencies and they are the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) as well as the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).
The labeling law of foods requires for some information to be placed on the packaging label in such a way that consumers would be able to understand as well as read the information in the label before buying their product. Some of the basic information that should be present in the food label is:

  • Product name
  • Manufacturer’s name and address
  • Weight and measure and the amount of food
  • Serving sizes
  • Ingredients
  • Nutritional facts

These are important information when presenting a case for food labeling law. Veggielawyers.org works with clients who had been mislead or found some false information on the food label. We start working with our clients as early as filing a complaint to the manufacturer and if there is no satisfactory response from them, we help our clients to file a complaint on the manufacturer with the FDA.
We also provide legal counsel and advice on your rights as consumers as well as inform you are entitled to some monetary damages that can be incurred in a lawsuit against the food company or the manufacturer that made the misleading label of the food that you bought.
